Kiprich vs Merciless

Reggae super show Sting 2011, dubbed Rumours of War was a big hit but to many a big disappointment also. Let’s start out with the disappointment first. Many big name artists were not present for the show. There were names like Beenie Man, Movado, Elephant Man bandied about but for some reason they were ‘no shows.’

There were numerous new artistes some were able to do only half a song due to the fact that the show started late. Some have great potentials but others may have to work harder on their performances.

On the positive sides the clashes were good and there were a few surprises. For example, who would have thought that Twins of Twins would have run out of Lyrics against Tony Matterhorn? Controversial DJ Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer just launched his new line of skin products. The DJ has been heavily criticised recently because of his promotion of the ‘Bleached Skin’ philosophy and practices. Kartel has been alleged to bleach his skin so as to appear lighter than his usual dark skin. Many Jamaicans see this as a remnant of the slave mentality where lighter skin people are seen as superior to those with darker skin. Kartel,  however, defended his behavior giving the impression that it is just a promotion gimmick for his music and business empire. Read more…

Members of the Impressive Media Group are displaying their distinct looks once again. From back is Carlan Arthur (Freddy Crougar). Carlan is the lead dancer for the dance group Impressive Hype. To the right is Jeremy Rodney (Mr. Rodney). To the left is Brandon Savage(Young Sav) . Both Jeremy and Brandon are the top rappers for the Group. At front is Kirrh Buchanan (Beat God or Kbizz).
